About this course
The Flash environment can be mastered visually but to really unlock the power of this application you need to delve into the ActionScript language.
This course is designed to take you from simple animation, movement and effects to dynamic application development and true interactivity. ActionScript is an Object Oriented programming language which can be used to develop a wide range of sophisticated web applications and online solutions in any number of environments. It can be used with other web technologies such as XML and PHP for rich data presentation; or it may be used in more creative contexts for interactive multimedia delivery.
We take hands on approach to the subject, allowing our students to create actual Flash applications during the course, and regardless of your specific context, you'll find this one day course will take your knowledge to the next level and take the mystery out of this very powerful application language.
What you will learn
ActionScript is a very comprehensive language and you cannot expect to be a master in one day, but we can take your knowledge to a level where you can explore the depths of ActionScript with a solid understanding of its structure and syntax.
We start with a brief overview of the Flash interface that relates to Actionscript and quickly move on to application design and architecture. Movieclips are specific containers within Flash and are the cornerstone of most Actionscript applications, so these are discussed in detail, followed by a detailed discussion on Object Orientated Principles (OOP). After understanding these core principles of Actionscript, we move on to syntax, basic commands, interactive elements and start to create code.
Dynamic content is then addressed by looking at loading text and graphics into our Flash applications at run time. This is followed by sections on video, sound and the differences between the different versions of Actionscript. We finish up by looking at debugging code and the publishing aspects of Flash.
Assumed knowledge

This course is designed for those who have taken our two-day Flash course or for those who have been working with Flash in the past and are ready to move into ActionScript. Please
get in touch if you are unsure of your suitability.
